I'm heading out for the weekend in a moment but I thought I'd drop this guy here before I went. I thought he might make a nice card if anyone was so inclined. :D

This was a painting I've been working on intermittently between commissions as just a bit of relaxation. It was really just an excuse to paint big fanning feathers.

No idea on the time or music for this one, he was just for fun!

Colors: The colors are very well chosen. A bit more color contrast would've popped out the bird. Maybe you could use the complementary color of the bird for his eye (blue, green?) To add intensity to his expression.

Composition: Great composition, the flow lines lead you right to his face and overall the position of the bird was worked in excellence.

Technique: Great brush strokes, the detail of the feathers is great, the eye is specifically magnificent. Some brush strokes on the top right corner were a bit left off.

Overall this piece is masterfully created and deserves great appreciation! :)

this is really great! the detail on the feathers are splendid and the way the farther wing is faded is great. the only criticism i have is that the separation between the head and the neck is a little to deep and the head looks as if it were barely attached. if i were you i would probably not really put much value on the separation area or only put the value on the bottom side of the head only.
other than that, its very great!

He's so fluffy I want to hug him!

There is so much depth and contrast. I see that the head area stands out against the background and the darkness on the wing stands out against the lighter part of the background.

Ah, he's beautiful. The sereness of his face coupled with the softness and gentle feel of his form make for a stunning effect. I feel relief just looking at him. ^^
