Despite my fierce love of art school and everything I do there, I've missed doing illustration as well. These little paintings have snuck out over the past couple of months in between organisations of my first exhibition and preparations for a fourth year of uni. Over the past few years I've made woodcuts, linocuts, lithographs, screenprints, etchings and aquatints - the studio and lifestyle of art immersion is aboslutely invigorating. And with more time and work, I think I'll start to produce work through these methods that I am proud of to show. This year though I am getting back to the roots of the things I love - straight out drawing. I've always found I work better in creative communities than alone; I love the energy of artists in groups. As such, I'm going to try to see if I can return to a little activity around these parts (but no promises! Art school is a demanding mistress). You guys have always been an inspiration and support and I am forever grateful for it.
So these are quick sketches from over the summer! Uni has changed how I draw and what I draw, but not the love of the act itself. These are reminiscent of old times of curling up at the computer for hours in a haze of art and it was a little bit nice. I don't have much time for long involved works these days but I'd like to make what I can.
(These have mostly been on my journal so I apologise for repeats if you've seen them already! If you'd like to see more of the sketches and little things I do, I post more actively in my artblog here: [link] )
All the love and thank you for coming by. These are all done in Photoshop CS4 with a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet.
I look forward to seeing your work around here more, but I'm glad you're doing well in school. Thanks for posting these pretties for those of us not on tumblr (like FB, I'll tackle that rhino of joyous distraction when I have something of my own to promote).
So good to see more posted art from you! Definitely a change in style from what we used to see from you, but beautiful pieces all the same. Sounds like you're doing exciting stuff in uni. I took an art class from a phd student who was doing a lot of the stuff you're talking about, it seemed unusual compared to the illustration artwork I'm more familiar with, but still very cool stuff.

Your speedpainting are really.....amazing! *u*
I love it!
What uni are you going to?
