This was just a doodle that turned into a painting. I debated on whether I would post it here or not because it isn't the most polished or planned piece. But hey, I like the colours.
I haven't been getting a great lot of time to really devote to painting lately, so this was just good to work on whenever I got a chance.
I must admit - playing around with the textures on this little guy was my favourite part of the painting. It was relaxing just to scribble and dab to make up the details.
The clouds actually look like a color manipulated photograph. The foreground looks more fantastical and dream-like, though, which makes for a strange and wonderful dichotomy. The hint of deep green in the eye is really catching, encompassing, even...the perfect "alternative" to the hues of the rest of the painting. It is definitely odd, but so very nice.
I was experimenting with a few new things in this picture and it's produced this strange calmness about the whole thing.
The colour of the eye against the oranges, browns and purples is one of my favourite parts of this picture because of how it contrasts so strongly. It was purely accidental as well - I started off with a very light neutral yellow and the colour just got richer everytime I went back to work on it.
The clouds were therapy clouds again in that I just painted them to destress and help get everything in my mind in order. Thank you as always for your words, Fae.
I had the most awful time coming up for a title for this one! There was this feeling of drowsyness about it though which led me to this title.
And thanks, Sej!
