When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Artist's Comments
I'm slowly working my way through comments and clearing up my message centre, so never fear, I'm getting there.
In between that though I've been coding my website and learning CSS as I go which has been an exciting adventure into learning that Internet Explorer is a butt. But having potentially subdued it, I'm declaring my site up and open. It's basically going to serve as a portfolio for my art and all it really means here is that the web address on the pictures will change. I am so stupidly proud of this site and to have it done is awesome. This painting is my background graphic for it (and is therefore fairly unexciting as a standalone painting, but hey). There's still some various tweaking to be done to the site itself but it should hopefully be functional. ~~~ Lightcrush.com~~~ Tools: Photoshop. Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet!! Glee! The sepia color scheme really gives the image a mellow and warm feeling that mirrors the adoration I see in the serpent's expressions. The only other color is in the eyes, making that the focal point of the image.
The composition is well planned with the emphasis on the left and the tail fading into the background on the right.
The details of the scales and hair are amazing. The details on the serpents make the image much more realistic and interesting to view. Their are no awkward areas of the image and everything looks fairly convincing though it is fantasy.
There isn't much I could suggest to improve upon. The only thing that I will suggest is adding a small amount of the blue to the right in some way to tie the color into the piece as a whole. I know this image was intended to be used as a background, but as a finished product the blue would help, but that is only my opinion.
A lovely whimsical piece. I enjoyed it greatly!
